This online interactive Course is designed to build your capability to support co-workers who are experiencing family violence. Disclosures of gendered violence are common after or during violence prevention training and/or workplace change programs.
On completion of this Course you will have:
- knowledge of family violence as a workplace issue
- developed the ability to provide an initial response to disclosures of family violence
This Course, which includes a 2-hour online interactive webinar, is designed to build the capacity of workplaces to support their employees who are experiencing family violence through developing workforce understanding of family violence and the ability to provide an initial safe and supported response to disclosures of family violence when made in the workplace.
This Course includes a 2-hour interactive online webinar and a self-directed activity to complete prior to attending the online interactive webinar.
Time and assessment
This Course will take approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete, including a self-directed activity and a 2-hour online interactive webinar. The course does not include an assessment but does required interactive engagement by participants in webinar activities.
On completion of this Course a Certificate of Completion will be issued.
Why do this course
Understanding how to respond to an initial disclosure of family violence is the first step in putting strong workplace practices into place. Workplace responses are formal and informal systems that support a workplace and its staff to address family violence as a workplace issue. They can include: a commitment statement, family violence policy, family violence leave, family violence procedures including responding to perpetrators in the workplace, workplace safety plan and safety plan guidelines, family violence contact officers, training for managers and leaders, incorporation of family violence information in new staff induction procedure, and employee assistance programs.
This online interactive Course is designed for all levels of staff, however, it may be particularly valuable for managers, human resources/people and culture staff, or individuals in family violence contact or support roles as it will assist you to develop appropriate responses to disclosure.
Each online delivery is capped at 20 participants. Minimum numbers apply in order for the scheduled training to proceed.
