This short course will assist you in building stakeholder support for gender equity work in your workplace. It covers the foundational knowledge required to understand and articulate how gender equality is everyone’s business and requires a whole-of-community response. It also supports you to identify who your stakeholders might be, what their motivations are, and how to get their buy-in to support your gender equity work.

This short course unpacks the importance of stakeholders and how to gain their support for gender equity work in the workplace. Being able to identify who can help, effectively communicating how gender inequality affects them, and getting them on side, will help make your gender equity work a success. Gender equity work is not an individual endeavour; everyone has a role to play in supporting gender equality.

On completion of this course you will be able to:

Modules

This short course has three modules followed by a final assessment:

  • Module 1: Gender equality is everyone’s business
  • Module 2: Identifying stakeholders
  • Module 3: Securing buy-in for your gender equity work
  • Assessment

Time and assessment

This short course will take approximately two hours to complete.

There are a number of practice activities at the end of each module to help you check your knowledge.

You will only be assessed at the end of the course. For this final assessment, you have an unlimited number of attempts, but you must score 100% to complete this course.

On completion of this short course a digital badge will be issued. A digital badge is an authenticated, online representation of the knowledge acquired and can be shared via a range of online platforms.

Why do this course

The 2015 Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence looked at the causes and issues of family violence. It revealed that family violence is a gendered crime, as 75% of victims are women. Gender inequality is at the core of violence against women and is a serious social issue in Australia. A number of new gender equity strategies and policies have been developed to address this issue.
